June Choi

June Choi is a Ph.D. candidate in Earth System Science at the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability, where her research focuses on climate finance and quantifying climate change impacts to inform equitable adaptation and disaster risk management.

In 2025 she travelled to Belém, Brazil, as part of Stanford’s observer delegation to COP30, where she delivered a keynote presentation on “The Debt Burden of Tropical Cyclones and Climate Change.” Previously, her work with Climate Policy Initiative and Climate Bonds Initiative supported innovative mechanisms for mobilizing finance for mitigation projects and building resilience. At Stanford, she has supported pilot research on community flood insurance as a Partnerships for Climate Justice Fellow with OneShoreline, and has trained as a public narrative and leadership coach. She holds an MA in International Relations from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and a BA in Sociology and Asian Civilizations from Amherst College.
