Divya Chalise

Divya Chalise is the Co-Founder and CTO of TheZero Inc., where he leads the development of scalable, low-cost systems to convert biomass into carbon-negative and low carbon products for carbon sequestration and bioenergy. TheZero’s core technology is rooted in work developed at Stanford University, where Divya was a Postdoctoral Scholar co-advised by Prof. Arun Majumdar and Prof. Yi Cui as a Stanford Sustainability Accelerator Fellow, focusing on low-cost biomass-to-biochar conversion. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley, where his research, conducted primarily at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, focused on thermal sciences, energy systems, and electrochemical diagnostics. Divya has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications, holds multiple patent applications, and brings expertise in thermal science, materials science, and scaling climate technologies from lab to deployment.
