Danny Collins

Danny Collins is a Knight-Hennessy Scholar and a second-year PhD student in Oceans at the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability in the Micheli Lab. His research focuses on developing ecotechnologies to enhance ocean health. His work centers on coral reef restoration, with a particular emphasis on recovering bleached corals. He also studies marine diseases and explores how solutions from human epidemiology can be adapted to better monitor, treat, and prevent infectious diseases in marine organisms. Danny graduated from Duke University in 2024 with a bachelor’s degree in marine science & conservation and biology, with a minor in visual media studies. At Duke, he was a Rachel Carson Scholar and Bonaventura Fellow. He was also a high jumper on the Duke Varsity Track & Field team, a Team IMPACT Fellow, and co-founder of the TIDE Talk series.
